GST Council removes officers' arrest powers, raises prosecution threshold to Rs 5 crore
At its 57th meeting on 8 October 2026 the GST Council left tax rates unchanged and approved process reforms, including no arrest powers for GST officers and faster refunds, from 1 April 2027.
